Lucys in Charge...work in progress

This darling great dane, Lucy, runs a friends office from the sofa!

Sofa is getting close..not loving the plaid! Changing the color of the blanket slightly. Can't wait to work on Lucy herself as she is just blocked in at this point.

Beaux Arts Festival this weekend

Don't have anything to do this Saturday and Sunday?  I will be at the Beaux Arts festival if Davenport, IA.  A great show located right in front of the Figge Museum of Art.  www.figgeartmuseum.org
As a bonus there is FREE entry to the Museum this weekend!

This is a very large painting that I have started (30"X40").  Possibly a beginning to a new series.  Been working on the layout for a couple weeks and am now starting to apply colors.

Youth class (elementary and middle school) Wednesday 3:30 to 5pm

Adult classes-Monday 6 to 8pm and Wednesday 12 to 2pm

This schedule can be massaged yet.  Private lessons are available.

This fantastic two-hour class starts with a Wine 101 Presentation. You will sample delicious wines and learn how to hold your wine glass, how to swirl and sniff, and what to look for when you're tasting wine.  Next, we break out the canvassas and create! Painting with Acrylics is made easy with instruction from professional Susan Kennicott. Swirl your wine and whirl your brushes, creating a new pieces of art and building bright memories wth friends!

Monday night adult class is beginning to fill...only 2 seats left open.  Class starts at 6-6:30 and lasts for 2 hours.
I also offer an after school class for teens on Mondays, preteens on Wednesday after school.
My other adult art classes are Wednesday at 12-2 and Wednesday evenings 6-8.

University of Iowa Holiday Art Show

The University of Iowa Fine Arts Council is proud to sponsor the Holiday Thieves' Market. This market is an indoor art exhibition and sale held annually featuring artists from all over the Midwest and beyond. Over 100 artists will exhibit and sell their original work in painting, ceramics, photography, woodworking, drawing, metal, glass, jewelry, fiber, and more!  The show has a juried selection acceptance process. Free admission for the public! In conjunction with the Holiday Thieves' Market the Fine Arts Council presents their annual wine tasting featuring Iowa wineries on December 1 from 12-2pm. This event is also free and open to the public with donations encouraged.

Got a little more layers and shaping to do...should be done in time for the Waterloo show Nov 10th & 11th

Painting eyes...a progression (but not complete!)

This is about 70% complete.  However, when painting anything with eyes, I always paint the eyes to put soul into the painting before I complete.  Then I really bond with the subject and which seems to make completing the painting much simpler!
